Turn off the Zoom annotation tool in your Zoom meeting settings

The Annotation tool allows Zoom hosts and participants to draw on the screen and everyone in the meeting can see what has been drawn. Zoombombers exploit this tool to draw inappropriate images that are seen by everyone in the meeting.

With the Zoom Annotation feature allowed, when anyone shares their screen during a Zoom meeting, all participants can use the annotation tool to draw and make notes on top of the shared screen. Those annotations are seen by all Zoom meeting participants.

1. Log into MyTC. Click the Student, Faculty, or Employee Resources tab. In the General Technology Resources section, click TC Zoom.

2. Click Settings on the left menu.

3. Click the Meeting tab on the top of the page.

4. Click In Meeting (Basic) in the Meeting menu.

5. Scroll down to the Annotation section. Check that the color of the button.

5.1 Check that the button is gray. If the button is gray, this signals that Annotation will not be allowed for all future meetings.

6. If the button is blue, this signals that Annotation is allowed for all future meetings. Click the button to change it to gray. Once the button is gray, this signals that Annotation will not be allowed for all future meetings.
