Accessing Host Tools

1. Start the meeting as a host.

2. Click Host tools on the Zoom navigation bar.

The check next to a menu item provides information about the status of the feature.

  • If there is a check,  the feature is ON.
  • If no check appears, the feature is OFF.

3. To lock your meeting so no additional participants can enter, put a check next to Lock Meeting.

If one of your meeting participants loses their internet connection and leaves the meeting, they will NOT be able to reenter your meeting if it is locked.

4. To enable the waiting room for your meeting, check Enable waiting.

If one of your meeting participants loses their internet connection and leaves the room or if someone is late for your meeting, you will be able to admit them from your waiting room.

5. To allow participants to share their screen, check Share Screen.

Share Screen is a popular feature used for disrupting a Zoom meeting and should be ON only when you know all the participants in your meeting and your meeting is locked or has a waiting room.

6. To allow your participants to send a message using Chat, click Chat.

Whether Chat is checked or not checked, the host will always be able to send a message to meeting participants.

7. To allow participants to change their name as it appears in the Zoom participant list, check Rename Themselves.

8. To prevent participants from unmuting themselves, uncheck Unmute themselves.

9. To prevent participants from starting their video, uncheck Start Video.

10. To disable participants from writing on whiteboard or notes, uncheck Share whiteboard and/or Share notes.

11. To suspend all participant activities, click Suspend all participant activities. In the pop-up, click suspend.

11.1. To report the incident to Zoom, fill out the report pop-out and click Submit.
