Replace a faculty picture in the Canvas Template

This basic tutorial will demonstrate how to replace the image on Welcome presentation's About the Faculty slide.

1. Navigate to your Canvas course's home page.

2. Click the Edit button.

3. Scroll through the editing window until you find the about the Faculty section.

This section is easily identified by the placeholder image of an instructor and/or the word Faculty being surrounded by a more vivid blue than the other section headings.

4. Click on the placeholder image to select it.

Selecting the placeholder image minimizes the likelihood of formatting mishaps during the following steps.

6. Drag an image from your computer into the Upload Image area that appears.

To make a circular image, you will need an image editor such as Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape- or you may submit a ticket to DFI.

8. Your uploaded image will appear next to the placeholder image.

9. Select the original image and press the Delete key on your keyboard to remove it.

10. Click on your remaining image and click Image Options when it appears.

12. Adjust the image's size to your liking, click Done

For square or circular images, 163 x 163 px will match your image's size to the other placeholders.

13. The image will change size in the editor.

14. Click Save.

15. You can now find your new image in the Welcome presentation in your Home page.

Replace a faculty picture in the Canvas Template

1. Navigate to your Canvas course's home page.

2. Click the Edit button.

3. Scroll through the editing window until you find the about the Faculty section.

4. Click on the placeholder image to select it.

6. Drag an image from your computer into the Upload Image area that appears.

7. With your image uploaded, scroll down to find the Attributes section and check Decorative Image. Then, click Submit.

8. Your uploaded image will appear next to the placeholder image.

9. Select the original image and press the Delete key on your keyboard to remove it.

10. Click on your remaining image and click Image Options when it appears.

11. In the Image Options menu that appears on the right, you can adjust the size of your image.

12. Adjust the image's size to your liking, click Done

13. The image will change size in the editor.

14. Click Save.

15. You can now find your new image in the Welcome presentation in your Home page.

3. Scroll through the editing window until you find the about the Faculty section.

4. Click on the placeholder image to select it.

5. Click the Images icon in the toolbar to reveal the Upload a File menu.

6. Drag an image from your computer into the Upload Image area that appears.

7. With your image uploaded, scroll down to find the Attributes section and check Decorative Image. Then, click Submit.

8. Your uploaded image will appear next to the placeholder image.

9. Select the original image and press the Delete key on your keyboard to remove it.

10. Click on your remaining image and click Image Options when it appears.

11. In the Image Options menu that appears on the right, you can adjust the size of your image.

12. Adjust the image's size to your liking, click Done

13. The image will change size in the editor.

14. Click Save.

15. You can now find your new image in the Welcome presentation in your Home page.
