When videos are created or added directly to Canvas, a captioning file needs to be added for captions to appear on the video. The caption file is usually an SRT file.
1. Locate the video in the Files section of your Canvas course.
2. Click on the name of the video to open the file.
3. Once the video is open, click on the three dots in the upper right corner.
4. Select Upload Captions.
5. Select the Language of the video and click Choose File.
6. Click on the name of the SRT or WebVTT file and click Open.
7. When the name of the caption file appears, click Upload.
8. Once you refresh your browser, the closed caption button will appear.
