Change the nickname of a Canvas course

The nickname of the course is displayed on the course card. The nickname is only changed for you; others do not see what you have nicknamed your course.

1. Log into the TC Portal.

Students: https://student.tc.columbia.edu

Employee: https://employee.tc.columbia.edu

2. In the applications Tab, click Canvas.

3. Click Dashboard in the Global Navigation Menu.

4. Click the More Options icon on the course card of the course that you would like to change the nickname of.

5. Enter the nickname in the Nickname field, and click Apply.

6. The nickname will now appear on your course card.
