Compare Student Course Grade to Course Average in Canvas

Updated on

1. On your canvas course, click on New Analytics on the right side.

2. Select Course Grade from the tabs at the top of the page.

Another feature the new Canvas analytics allows you is to compare the course average to specific students or to other sections within the canvas the course. By default, the current course that you are in will automatically be added to the graph.

3. You can then add different course sections or individual students to the graph by clicking in the text box next to All Sections and selecting who you would like to add as the comparison. You can only have up to 3 different items to compare and you cannot delete All Sections from the comparison.

Only sections within the current Canvas course can be used for the comparison. Additionally, prior sections of the course cannot be used for the comparison, only the current term.

4. Once you have added your comparison cases, they will be displayed in the graph with a different color and symbol so you can visually see the comparison.
