Student Level Analytics in Canvas

While the weekly online activity and course grade analytics is more summative of the overall course, you can obtain analytics for individual students as well as the course overall.

1. In your Canvas course, click on New Analytics on the right side.

2. Select Students from the tabs at the top.

3. Find the student you would like to obtain more information about regarding their weekly online activity.

4. The initial view (i.e., the first tab) will show the student's overall course grade and a graph of their individual assignment scores.

5. To view the number of page views and participation for certain weeks, click the Weekly Online Activity tab.

6. The Communication tab will show the message history for messages sent using Canvas.

7. To view the same information in a table format, click the three dots on the right side.

8. Click Data Table.

9. Information may be viewed in three different table formats.

10. To email a student directly from this page, click on the envelope icon to the right of the student's name.

11. Type in the Subject line and write your Message. Click Send to sent the message to the student.

12. To return back to the main Course Analytics page, click Course Analytics above the student's name.
