Add alt text using Adobe Acrobat Pro

1. Open your document using Adobe Acrobat Pro.

2. On the right hand navigation tab, click Accessibility.

If Accessibility is not visible on the list of tools, click More Tools to manually add it in the tool menu.

Before proceeding to Step 3, make sure your PDF document has been tagged (refer to instructions here).

3. Click Set Alternate Text.

4. A pop-up window will appear, showing which image(s) should include alternate text.

  1. Enter the alternate text accordingly to the image.
  2. Check the box for Decorative figure if the image serves as a decoration.
  3. Click the next button to add alternate text to the next detected image.

5. Click Save & Close when you've finished entering the alternate texts.

6. Click the save icon to save all changes.
