FAQs: The Recording Process

Updated on

"Can DFI help me edit out a mistake I made in the middle of a slide?"

We strongly recommend aiming for the "Perfect Slide”. Since PowerPoint records slide-by-slide, you don’t need to be perfect for 20 minutes, you only need to be perfect for one slide at a time. If you stumble, simply clear that specific slide and try again. By the time you reach your last slide, your video is already finished and polished, saving hours of back-and-forth editing later!

"Will my students see my script/notes in the final video?"

No. The notes are for your eyes only. They act as a teleprompter for you during the recording but will not appear in the exported MP4 file.

"Do I have to record the whole presentation in one sitting?"

You cannot "switch windows" to a browser while recording in PowerPoint.

To show a website:

  • Screenshots (Recommended): Take screenshots of the website and paste them onto your slides.

"What should I do after exporting the MP4?"

To ensure your videos are human-captioned and properly stored, please upload them to TC Digital Media (TCDM) instead of Canvas directly. Once uploaded to TCDM, you can easily embed them into your Canvas course. Here are the guides to do so:

Optional Intro/Outro Support: If you would like professional branding added to your videos, send your MP4 to our Instructional Designers. We will add the intro and outro slides, upload the video to TCDM, and embed it in your Canvas course for you.
