Sound Recognition using iPhone

Updated on

The iPhone can continuously listen for certain sounds - such as a crying baby, doorbell, or siren - and notify when it recognizes these sounds.

Do not rely on iPhone to recognize sounds in circumstances of harm or injury, in high-risk or emergency situations, or for navigation.

1. On iPhone, go to Settings.

2. Go to Accessibility.

3. Go to Sound Recognition.

4. Turn on Sound Recognition. Select None, then select Sounds.

5. Choose from a list of Sounds and turn on desired sounds.

6. The iPhone will continuously listen for selected sounds and notify when it recognizes these sounds.

7. Create custom sounds (must have iOS 16+) by clicking on Custom Alarm.  Name the Alarm.

8. Follow instructions to activate the sound and select Start Listening.
