Record audio using GarageBand on a Mac

1. In your Finder, click Applications.

2. In your Applications, folder click on GarageBand to open.

3. When the application opens, select New Project  and click Choose.

4. Select the option to Record using a microphone or line input - or drag and drop audio files.

5. Underneath Input, check that the microphone you will be using is correct [1]. To change your microphone click the gray arrow [2].

6. Click Create.

7. Your recording window will open. Click the two purple icons at the top to turn them off.

The buttons that are selected in purple are metronomes and will make a clicking noise while you are speaking.

8. To begin your recording click the red record button in the top playbar.

You will know your microphone is on when you see the green bar under Audio one pulsating when you speak into your microphone.

9. You recording will begin.

10. When you are finished click the stop button.

11. To delete your Recording select the the recording bar and click the delete bar on your keyboard.

12. To  trim your recording

12.1. Click on the recording bar and float your mouse over the bar. Click on the double arrowed bar at the end of your recording bar.

12.2. Using the double arrowed cursor move the recording bar to where you would like to trim.

You can always put your recording bar back to where it was when you started if you feel like you have trimmed too much of your recording.
