Updated on

You can import PDF files from your computer into your EndNote citation manager. This feature is useful if you hope to store and annotate all of your articles within EndNote.

1. Select File, click Import, then click File.

2. The Import File dialogue box will appear. To find the PDF you would like to import, click on the Choose... button next to the Import File: text box.

3. Find and click on the PDF you want to import. Then click Open.

4. Select the type of file you are importing by clicking the drop-down button next to the Import Option: text box.

5. Next, you can specify whether you want to import all, discard duplicates, or import into duplicates library by clicking the drop-down arrow next to the Duplicates: text box.

6. You can also select a text translation by selecting the drop-down arrow next to the Text Translation: text box and selecting the language.

7. Once you are done selecting all the appropriate options, click Import.

8. The PDF file will be imported.

You can import all PDFs on your computer, or select individual items. However, when importing all PDFs, the references associated with the documents will not be auto-populated. You will need to add them manually.
