Quiz Analytics in Canvas

1. To obtain analytics for a quiz on Canvas, go to your Canvas course and click on Quizzes on the left side.

2. Click on the quiz that you would like to see the analytics for.

3. Next, click on Quiz Statistics on the right.

4. The top of the webpage will display the quiz summary with the Average Score, High Score, Low Score, Standard Deviation, and Average Time.

5. The bottom of the webpage displays the question breakdown with the number of attempts and how many respondents chose or typed in each answer choice for each question.

6. You can filter by course section by clicking the drop-down arrow next to Section Filter on the top.

7. You can download an Excel file with student quiz analytics by clicking on Student Analysis on the top.

8. A report will be generated and downloaded to your web browser. Open the downloaded file. The Student Analysis file will display quiz analytics per student.

9. Canvas also reports the item analysis for each quiz. You can generate the report by clicking on Item Analysis on the top.

Item analysis is analyzing student responses to individual quiz questions with the intention of evaluating the quiz quality. It is a tool used to uphold quiz effectiveness and fairness.

10. A report will be generated and downloaded to your web browser. Open the downloaded file. The Item Analysis file will display item analytics for the quiz.
