Student Level Analytics in Canvas

Updated on

While the weekly online activity and course grade analytics is more summative of the overall course, you can obtain analytics for individual students as well as the course overall.

1. In your Canvas course, click on New Analytics on the right side.

2. Select Students from the tabs at the top.

3. Find the student you would like to obtain more information about regarding their weekly online activity.

4. A more detailed view for the selected student will appear. The first tab will show the student's course grade and graphically show what grades were earned for various assignments.

5. The second tab will graphically show the number of page views and participations for certain weeks.

6. The Communication tab will show any messages that were sent between the instructor and student from within Canvas.

7. If you would like to see this same information in a table format, click the three dots on the right side.

8. Then, select Data Table.

9. The same information that was displayed on the 3 tabs will not be displayed in a table format.

10. You can also email a student directly from this page by clicking on the envelope icon to the right of the student's name.

11. Click Send to sent the message to the student or click Close to close the pop-up.

12. To return back to the overall course analytics, click on the button <-- Course Analytics above the student's name.
